Advisor - Academic Leadership

Dyer Narinesingh, Ph.D.

Dr. Dyer Narinesingh is a distinguished Trinidadian chemist, educator, and academic leader whose career spans decades of scholarship, teaching, and institutional administration. Born on February 18, 1946 in Arouca, Trinidad and Tobago, Narinesingh has made enduring contributions to both scientific research and higher education in the Caribbean.

Dr. Narinesingh began his academic career as a faculty member in Chemistry at The University of the West Indies (UWI), St. Augustine, where he was recognized for his commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate education and research. His scholarly interests include analytical chemistry, biosensor development, and chemical instrumentation, with numerous publications and technical contributions to peer-reviewed journals and international scientific conferences.

During his tenure at UWI, he served as Head of the Departmemt of Chemistry, and subsequently, as Dean of the Faculty of Science and Agriculture, where he guided program development and faculty initiatives dedicated to strengthening science education and research capacity in the region.

In 2013, Dr. Narinesingh was appointed President of The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT), where he provided visionary leadership through strategic planning, expanded academic partnerships, and international collaborations. Under his presidency, UTT advanced key institutional goals, forged alliances with global partners, and hosted landmark regional conferences that elevated the university’s profile. He also served as Acting Provost before retiring in 2017 after a distinguished administrative career.

Dr. Narinesingh’s legacy is marked by his dedication to academic excellence, institutional growth, and advancing the role of science and technology education within Caribbean society.
